Welcome to Pottery Primary School Council's page.
Our job as school councillors is to make our school better. We have meetings every two weeks and bring our classes' ideas together. We think of events, things we'd like to change and things we like about our school. Miss Illingworth facilitates our meetings and we invite Mrs Peach (head teacher) and Mrs Marriot (cook) to our meetings so our ideas are heard and put into action. Emily (year 6) chairs each meeting and makes sure we all have a turn to speak. Minutes are typed and sent to each class for feedback.
In September, we had elections to choose our class councillor. Each candidate had to create a manifesto and read it to their class. The top four made it on the ballot paper and each class had time in the hall to have their final vote to pick their top candidate.
Throughout the year the junior councillors have been asked to take part in the interview process for various members of staff. We discussed ideas for questions at a meeting and then took turns to ask them in the interview.
